Last week, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan announced that a total of $140 million was distributed to 900 homeless assistance programs as the second round of grants awarded under HUD’s Continuum of Care (CoC) program.
The funding awards guarantee resources for the renewal of additional permanent and transitional housing projects and provide funding for 436 new projects designed to provide permanent supportive housing to chronically homeless individuals. San Diego received over $650,000 funding for three projects that included Interfaith in North County, the CoC Planning Grant, and TACHS.
During the first round of funding for CoC programs, HUD distributed a total of $1.6 billion for grant renewals for 7,100 programs that provide housing and support services to homeless individuals and families.
