VA Seeks to Amend SSVF Program Regulations

Dept of VAThe U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently proposed to amend the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program.

The amendment would require that SSVF grant recipients provide permanent housing assistance to veteran families who, without SSVF support, are at high risk of becoming homeless. The proposed amendment would expand the grantees’ control of offering specific services to very low-income veteran families to address any needs that have been identified since the beginning of the SSVF Program.

Further, the amendment is intended to incentivize grantees to address the housing needs of vulnerable veteran families and provide clarification on the types of services for which SSVF funding cannot be used.
