The U.S. Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Veterans Affairs (VA), and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) began the Mayors Challenge as a call to action for mayors to pledge to end veteran homelessness in their cities in 2015.
Mayor Kevin Faulconer recently announced his participation in this effort to end veteran homelessness in the City of San Diego.
Mayor Faulconer has shown a commitment to addressing homelessness in San Diego through his support of Connections Housing as Councilmember and through his budget proposal as Mayor of San Diego. Faulconer also committed 25 more beds for the San Diego Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Team. His action to participate in the Mayors Challenge further demonstrates his dedication to ending veteran homelessness in San Diego.
We applaud Mayor Faulconer for leading efforts to end veteran homelessness in San Diego and look forward to the contributions of his administration in this endeavor.
