The new 203-unit apartment community is located on the corner of Market and 14th Streets and will serve low income individuals. The development includes 76 permanent supportive units for the homeless.
Our Campaign Coordinator, Jennifer LeSar, was a guest speaker at the ceremony and highlighted three themes:
1. We are all everyday heroes in ending homelessness
2. We are all leaders carrying the vision and big goals toward ending homelessness and
3. Systems change is occurring as San Diego continues moving forward to align with national best practices to end homelessness.
Other guest speakers in attendance were Council President Todd Gloria, San Diego Housing Commission’s President and CEO Rick Gentry, Civic San Diego Board of Director Chair Cynthia Morgan, and Ryan Martin of the Building Industry Association (BIA) Cares who presented Alpha Project with a $10,000 check.
Bob McElroy, President and CEO of Alpha Project proclaimed Alpha Square Apartments “will be a tremendous blessing to this community.” He shared with excitement different features of the apartments including solar panels and a roof top garden.
Congratulations to all the collaborators and investors that are making this affordable housing community happen. Construction is expected to be completed by Fall 2015.
