Last week we participated in Project Homeless Connect in Escondido, organized by Interfaith Community Services. The event provided a variety of services to people experiencing homelessness in North County in a single-day, single-location event. Approximately 120 people received legal and health services, (including check-ups, HIV and hepatitis C testing), shelter information, haircuts, dental care, food, showers, and laundry services.

LeSar Development Consultants successfully tested a pilot technology solution to allow stakeholders to digitally conduct vulnerability index surveys of homeless persons using tablets and a cloud database. This could be an important improvement to the paper surveys used in previous local efforts, including the Point-in-Time Count and our Registry Week and Blitz Week efforts.

This event was part of a greater effort to reduce homelessness by 75% in North County. A second Project Homeless Connect will take place in Oceanside on January 24.
