The coming of spring has brought with it renewed hope and measurable progress for efforts to end homelessness in downtown San Diego. This month, we feature stories on the grand opening of Connections Housing, and two lives that have been changed forever by this important project. In addition, we take a look at new resources available for homeless services, including the City Council’s approval of $700,000 for two public restrooms and the extension of the winter shelter downtown, $120,000 in technical assistance for the San Diego region from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and $15 million in renewed homeless program funding for the San Diego region from HUD.
